Decommissioning Services for Missouri Camping Properties

The camping and retreat board has announced the dates for the decommissioning services of the three United Methodist camping properties prior to their sale. All are invited to share in these services of thanksgiving, healing and hope. Each service will include prayers and music as well as the decommissioning and release of the property. In addition to the short worship service, the campground will be open to guests for personal reflection and prayer following the service. The campground will open 30 minutes prior to the service at each location. If you would like to share remembrances and/or photos in a special way please email those to: campstories@moumethodist.org by September 25. Please put the campground name as the subject of your email.  Selected stories and photos will then be taken and compiled into a scrapbook which will be at the Decommissioning Services for you to view. For questions about the decommissioning services, please contact Jon Spalding at jon@kwumc.com.
Decommissioning Services:

  • Saturday, October 3, Wilderness Retreat and Development Center, Lawson – 10 a.m., worship leader: Rev. Jennifer Weekes-Klein
  • Saturday, October 10, Camp Galilee, El Dorado Springs – 10 a.m., worship leader: Rev. Melissa Dodd
  • Sunday, October 11, Blue Mountain Camp, Fredricktown – 3:30 p.m., worship leader: Rev. Kent Wilfong

Individual requests for specific memorial items on any of the three properties must be submitted by formal written request to office@moumethodist.org by Sept. 25.

Property Sale Information

Per the decision of the June 7 session of Annual Conference to sell the properties, the Missouri Annual Conference has entered into a contractual agreement with Central States Land & Auction (CSLA) for the management of the sale. The property auction is set for October 21 in Columbia. Interested parties should contact CSLA directly at 1-800-499-6774. Separate from the property sale, there will be an online auction of non-fixed camp assets (e.g., lawn mowers, dishes, bedding, craft supplies, etc.) for Blue Mountain, Galilee and Wilderness from October 1-28. Information specific to that online auction will be released once details are secured.
