Haiti Update

The Missouri Annual Conference remains in daily communication with partners in Haiti. Through generous giving through www.haitiwaterplus.org more than 2,000 filters have arrived and cleared customs in Haiti. On Tuesday of this week, relief supplies were delivered in Jeremie. In the days following Hurricane Matthew, United Methodists coordinated a two-stage response—relief and recovery. In the relief stage, Methodists have been asked to send finances and material to be distributed through local leadership. Missouri Methodists are engaged in that work. In the weeks and months to come we will move to recovery which will involve continued connection to long-term projects identified and led by Eglise Methodiste d’ Haiti--Methodist Church of Haiti.

Immediate Opportunities to Help in Haiti

  1. Give. Donate to relief efforts through www.haitiwaterplus.org.  Donations are ensuring that water filters and other aid items make their way to affected areas in Haiti.
  2. Go. Two teams will be traveling to Haiti in the near future. Trip cost is approximately $1,400 per person including flight, lodging, transportation, and project budget.
  • Bill Kreamer and Webster Hills UMC is leading a team to distribute water filters November 14-18. Limited space remains but interested persons may contact Bill at cwkreamer@gmail.com to join this early response.
  • Lucas Endicott will be leading people from several churches across the Conference from January 4-9. Space remains and interested persons should contact Lucas at lendicott@moumethodist.org
